Spring Cleaning – Is it too late? NEVER!

Spring Cleaning

Is it too late? NEVER! I don’t know about you, but coming home to a clean house is a game changer! Cleaning your house here and there is simple. We clean when we can and we don’t stress about it. Now, lets talk about the thing we all try to avoid… the SPRING CLEAN! Each year during spring, it is important to set some time aside to clean, reorganize and de-clutter from top to bottom. Often times this takes a little more planning. I try to find a day when I have no distractions. Trust me, I know this is hard. I start it off just like any other day. I make my morning coffee and walk outside to spend some time with my horses and dogs. Next, I come in for my second cup of coffee and then my third… i’m just kidding! Usually it is just two. As I sit and drink my coffee on the front porch, I start trying to motivate myself. I use that feeling I get coming home to a clean house as my motivation! Imagining how happy I will be once it is complete. Now, common let’s get started ladies and gents!
Still not motivated?
That’s okay! Let’s do it together. Turn on your favorite music, a little louder than you would normally would and gather all your cleaning supplies. If it’s a nice day out, open the windows for some fresh air and even light a candle to get the house smelling oh so good!
Time to get down to business!

I tend to focus on one room at a time so it’s not overwhelming. Typically, I choose the biggest room first. Start big, end small. Let’s get down to the basics… what is a spring clean? This is the perfect opportunity to get rid of the “clutter” in your home. The things you look at and say “do I even really need that?” I will tell you this, if you have to ask yourself that question, the answer is probably “NO”. Toss the things you can live without. It is easier if you grab two trash bags, one for trash and one for good will. Start filling them with the items you no longer need or want. Remember, one persons trash is another ones treasure! If you think someone might benefit from it, DONATE it!

Let’s break it down!

Once you have removed the majority of the items in the house you no longer need, try using this checklist I saw it on Joanna Gaines blog! Checklists are always a good idea. Allow this to help you keep track of those items we so easily forget. You can download and print it every year! Here is the link to her blog, go check it out!
